Where We Are In Place and Time

This week we began our new unit, Where We Are in Place and Time. Our central idea is personal histories inform our lives. In this unit we aim to inquire about our own personal histories and how they helped us become the people that we are today.
This week we introduced the inquiry on personal histories by inviting the parents to share on Parents Day.  During our "show and tell" the parents had an opportunity to share what each of the kindergartners were like as a baby and as toddler. It was incredibly sweet and endearing to watch everyone share sentimental details and items about their children. By participating in this activity the students walked away with a deeper understanding of their past. The artwork created that day will go in the students personal treasure chests. We will continue to create other artifacts to put in our treasure chests as the unit progresses.
