How We Express Ourselves Week- 18

This week the students continued their inquiry on celebrations of culture though art forms by examining the art of tapestry making from Azerbaijan. The students looked at many photographs of tapestries and then made their own recreation. The students especially seemed to love working with yarn and learning how to tie. This is the last week of this unit so the students also had a chance to reflect upon all of the different artwork they had created.

This week the students also participated in Setsubun; a Japanese bean throwing festival. For this they decorated masks and participated in a bean toss. For those not familiar with the tradition you can read about it at the following link:

Thank you to all who attended the celebration of learning today.

The students are continuing their inquiry on addition by participating in many different adding games during center time.

  1. I have used strictness with my child in the past, but he generally doesn't need it, and is well-behaved enough to not require such attention. At Phoenix pre-k I have observed the way he is spoken to, from afar when the teachers are unaware that I am there, and it is a very pleasant exchange. (You are who you are when no one is looking!)
