This week the Kindergartners began a new unit of inquiry titled, Sharing the Planet. This is an inquiry into the rights and responsibilities in the struggle to share finite resources with other people and with living things; communities and the relationships within and between them; access to equal opportunities; peace and conflict resolution. The central idea to this unit will be to inquire about how people interact with, use and value local environments in different ways. This inquiry will largely result in the students focusing on the 3 R's; reducing, re-using and recycling.
This week the students listened to books, videos and songs which centered around an introduction to the 3 R's. The then brainstormed ways that they could help protect the earth. They will continue to investigate and inquire around this topic for the weeks to come.
